Independent Senator David Pocock said the disclosure risked undermining public confidence, noting King is simultaneously co-designing the gas reservation policy and deciding on new gas exploration areas in which Woodside holds a commercial interest. The row follows Labor's draft legislation for a national gas reservation scheme requiring exporters to divert up to 20 per cent of production domestically from 2028, a plan already criticised by both environmentalists and opponents as watered down after industry consultation.
