A San Francisco landlord has relisted a three-bedroom townhouse for $6,300 a month, months after he allegedly shot and killed his tenant outside the property. Phillipe Chagniot, a 68-year-old retired dentist, is accused of murdering Eric Bigone, 58, in May after the two became embroiled in a dispute over the tenant's occupancy of the home. The case has drawn attention both for the brutality of the alleged crime and for the decision to put the property back on the rental market so soon afterwards, with Chagniot's estranged attorney confirming he no longer represents him.

According to a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Bigone's son, Bigone woke at 5am on 17 May to find his car ablaze outside the property, and was shot in the back of the head with a silenced submachine gun when he went to investigate, before being shot again as Chagniot allegedly stood over him. The suit alleges Chagniot had waged a "campaign of harassment" against Bigone since January 2026, including unlawful entry notices and intimidation, after failing to force him out so the home could be sold; it further claims Chagniot spray-painted nearby cameras beforehand to conceal his actions. Chagniot was arrested on 27 May, charged with murder, and remains held without bail, while the property—still owned by his family trust—is now advertised on Zillow as a "beautifully updated" home in the Outer Sunset neighbourhood.
