Transport for NSW reiterated the rule online, highlighting that blocked footpaths can force pedestrians, pram users and people with mobility devices into the road.

Stopping on a footpath or nature strip in a built-up area can result in a $339 fine. The penalty increases to $434 and two demerit points in applicable school zones, although fines vary across Australia; drivers may briefly stop for passenger drop-offs or pick-ups if they remain with the vehicle and leave within two minutes.
