A five-year-old cavoodle named Luna was seriously injured when a brown kelpie allegedly attacked her at Reid Park in Mosman, Sydney, on 12 September. Her owners say the kelpie’s owner left without offering assistance or providing contact details, prompting them to urge greater responsibility among dog owners.

Luna required emergency surgery after her owners feared she had lost sight in one eye, leaving the couple with a $3,000 veterinary bill. Mosman Council is investigating, seeking witness information and CCTV footage; possible outcomes include penalties or declaring the dog menacing or dangerous. The council received 15 dog-attack reports in 2025–26 and issued three penalty notices.
