Brianna Cronin, a 29-year-old Queensland ecologist, died after falling from Kelingking Beach on the Indonesian island of Nusa Penida whilst on a solo holiday. The University of Queensland graduate slipped on loose rock near the steep cliff, became stranded, and subsequently suffered a second fall, sustaining fatal injuries. According to a forensic examination, she died immediately from blunt-force trauma to the head, with multiple fractures found throughout her body.

Her family has launched a fundraising campaign to repatriate her body to Australia, with costs running up to $20,000. Any funds exceeding repatriation and funeral expenses will be directed towards realising her dream of building an environmentally friendly, solar-powered greenhouse—a space designed for community gathering, wellbeing and nature-based activities that reflected her deep passion for the natural world.
