A York College of Pennsylvania student and her roommates were attacked outside an off-campus property after asking a group of non-students to leave. Witnesses said several women punched and kicked the students, with two allegedly dragged by their hair from the porch into the street. The incident has raised concerns about student safety in neighbourhoods surrounding the college.

York City Police said officers arrived at 1.52am on 12 September, after being occupied with another critical incident, and found that the gathering had dispersed. Police continued monitoring the area and collected evidence from victims, while the college said it was co-operating with investigators and offering affected students support, including relocation to campus housing. Tuition is about $13,460 per semester, with accommodation and food costing more than $6,000.
