The Crooked House pub in Himley, Staffordshire, remains an overgrown ruin three years after a suspicious fire and its unauthorised demolition. The historic, famously tilted pub was treasured locally and nationally, and its continuing destruction has fuelled anger despite a council order requiring it to be rebuilt brick by brick.

The fire broke out on 5 August 2023, just nine days after the pub was bought for £675,000 by a company controlled by Carly and George Taylor. The building was demolished within 48 hours without permission, while the Taylors and four others remain under investigation for suspected arson. Staffordshire Police sent evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service in February, but no charging decision has yet been made, leaving the rebuilding order and the owners’ legal appeal unresolved.
