Prime Video’s *I’m a Virgo* is presented as an inventive alternative to *The Boys*, offering a surreal but socially grounded take on superhero fiction. Created by Boots Riley, the seven-part comedy examines marginalised identities, heroism and the dangers of individuals claiming authority as ultimate arbiters of justice.

The series follows Cootie, a sheltered 19-year-old who is 13 feet tall, as he leaves his Oakland home and encounters a world containing other superpowered people. Through Cootie’s relationships and experiences, including meeting superfast Flora, the show combines humour and fantasy with questions about inequality, privilege and what living alongside superheroes might realistically involve.
