Photographer Joshua Galicki has captured dramatic underwater images of Northern Gannets diving, chasing fish and competing for food around the Isle of Noss in Shetland. The photographs reveal the speed and disorder of the birds’ feeding behaviour, highlighting the intense struggle for prey beneath the waves.

Galicki took the images while working with Shetland Seabird Tours, as dozens of gannets gathered around the boat. Using a camera in a glass housing with underwater strobes, he photographed birds moving rapidly and changing direction, including two gannets whose bills crossed as they pursued the same fish. Isle of Noss is known for its 180-metre red sandstone cliffs and more than 150,000 breeding seabirds.
