Nottinghamshire councillor Jason Zadrozny has been found guilty of nine fraud offences and four counts of tax evasion after allegedly using fictitious community organisations to obtain public money. He created the Ashfield Heritage Society and a classic cinema club, then withdrew grants in cash for personal use, including towards a property investment with fellow councillors. The court warned he faces an immediate prison sentence when sentenced in November.

Zadrozny obtained thousands of pounds through grant applications, including £7,500 from a county council fund, despite the heritage society allegedly never existing and using a non-existent address. More than £68,000 was later given to him after a property bought with associates sold for £168,000, while £1,200 granted to the cinema club was also allegedly misused. He denied the charges and blamed a deceased former colleague, but jurors rejected his account.
