Wired keyboards generally deliver more consistent low-latency performance than Bluetooth models, making them preferable for competitive gaming and other timing-sensitive tasks. For ordinary typing, office work and less reaction-dependent games, Bluetooth’s convenience usually outweighs its performance limitations.

Keyboard responsiveness also depends on actuation speed, debounce rate and polling rate, although modern keyboards have largely addressed these factors. Bluetooth latency can range from roughly 8 milliseconds to more than 200 milliseconds, while 2.4GHz wireless connections are typically much faster and can be suitable for gaming; human reaction times are around 150–250 milliseconds.
