The man accused of murdering American Idol music supervisor Robin Kaye and her husband Thomas Deluca has been ruled unfit to stand trial by a Los Angeles judge. Raymond Boodarian, 23, has remained in a state hospital since January under an involuntary medication order, and a judge has determined he continues to be unable to participate in his defence.

Boodarian is charged with killing the couple, both aged 70, during an alleged burglary of their Encino home on 10 July 2025. Surveillance footage allegedly shows a man climbing over the property's fence at 4:06 p.m., with the couple arriving at 4:43 p.m.; approximately ten minutes later, the suspect was captured on video leaving whilst concealing a handgun. The bodies were discovered four days later during a welfare check. Boodarian's maximum commitment date is set for 19 December 2027, and should he eventually be found competent to stand trial and convicted as charged, he could face the death penalty or life imprisonment without possibility of parole.
