Backslash Security has named its AI agents after Seinfeld characters and treats them as members of a virtual workplace team. Newman, the research agent, received the company’s first Agent of the Month award after producing 146 findings in 60 days, highlighting how anthropomorphising AI may encourage staff to collaborate with systems they might otherwise view as threats.

The agents have defined responsibilities: Jerry handles orchestration, Elaine conducts security research, Kramer manages blogging and social media, George works in marketing, and the Soup Nazi reviews other agents’ work. Their character identities mainly shape their writing style rather than their behaviour, but the company says the approach makes AI more approachable, particularly for new employees who interact with agents during onboarding; this matters as many generative-AI projects are reportedly abandoned because workers reject them.
