Actor Alan Ritchson, star of "Reacher," has claimed that major film studios have pressured him to refrain from making public political statements. Speaking at a Fan Expo Canada panel, Ritchson joked about receiving calls from studios urging him to "shut up" about politics, citing Sony explicitly as having told him not to discuss certain topics. This claim comes amid growing scrutiny of his political commentary, which has included criticism of Christian Trump supporters and assertions that he has faced violence for voicing his views.

Ritchson further alleged that Amazon Prime Video rejected a "Reacher" storyline based on a book in which the protagonist confronts a white supremacist militia, suggesting the decision was politically motivated following Donald Trump's return to office. The actor has been vocal about his political positions in interviews, notably declaring in April 2024 that "Trump is a rapist and a con man," and criticising evangelical Christians for supporting the former president. Media commentator Christian Toto has suggested that Ritchson's continued political outspokenness may be undermining his own career prospects.
