Dead Kennedys Co-Founder East Bay Ray Diagnosed With Parkinson’s, Vows to Continue Touring

Dead Kennedys guitarist and co-founder East Bay Ray has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, the band announced on 22 September. Despite the diagnosis, he plans to continue performing and touring for as long as his health allows, while the band’s current tour schedule remains in place.
Ray, whose real name is Raymond Pepperell, formed Dead Kennedys in San Francisco in 1978 and is the group’s only constant member. The band is due to play in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco and Riverside from 6 to 11 October; its influential work includes “Holiday in Cambodia” and the 1980 album Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables.
