Mike Macdonald, the Seattle Seahawks coach, has apologised to Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton for publicly disclosing a dispute between the two teams that had previously been kept private. The conflict arose when the Seahawks obtained video footage of Broncos training camp practices in 2024 through recordings made by fans, which Payton discovered and threatened to report to the NFL as an alleged rule breach similar to Spygate. Macdonald inadvertently made the dispute public by discussing it on a podcast without expecting the conversation to be published, subsequently leading him to apologise to Payton.

The Seahawks had obtained approximately 100 plays from Broncos training camp using fan-recorded video for scouting purposes. Upon discovering this, Payton called Seahawks general manager John Schneider and threatened to report the team to the NFL for breaching filming regulations; the Seahawks responded by threatening legal action should he proceed. Neither threat materialised, but Macdonald shared the incident on the "In Depth With Graham Bensinger" podcast without anticipating public disclosure. Macdonald acknowledged his responsibility for the disclosure and reflected on his lack of understanding regarding the consequences of his comments.
