Elizabeth Holmes, the former Theranos founder imprisoned for defrauding investors, is reportedly due to move from a Texas federal prison to a halfway house in August 2027. The transfer marks a step towards her eventual release and follows a one-year reduction to her original sentence of more than 11 years.

Holmes was convicted in 2022 of conspiracy to defraud investors and wire fraud after Theranos’s blood-testing claims were exposed as misleading. Her sentence was reduced through a retroactive sentencing-guidelines change and First Step Act credit; the halfway house will provide supervision and practical support as she prepares to re-enter society.
