Apple has agreed to a $250 million settlement for a class action lawsuit filed by US customers who purchased iPhones between June 2024 and March 2025, believing they would receive promised Apple Intelligence features sooner than the company ultimately delivered them. Without admitting wrongdoing, Apple is compensating customers for the substantial delays in releasing these AI features, which were originally promised for late 2024 but did not fully materialise until iOS 27 in autumn 2026.

Eligible US customers can claim between $25 and $95 per device, with the actual payout depending on the number of successful claims. To qualify, customers must prove they purchased their iPhone during the specified period, were the original purchaser, and bought it for personal or business use; claims must be submitted by 21 December 2026 via SmartphoneAISettlement.com. The settlement reflects Apple's failure to meet its Worldwide Developer Conference 2024 commitment to introduce Apple Intelligence later that year, following significant delays and changes within Apple's AI division.
