More than 65,000 people have signed a petition calling for Tom Jones to be reinstated as a judge on The Voice UK. Jones, who had been involved with the programme since its launch in 2012, said he was “not thrilled” after being removed, while fellow judge Will.i.am has publicly supported the campaign.

Jones said producers cited insurance-related financial difficulties and a desire to refresh the show, offering him only a reduced appearance. The programme confirmed that he will not be a full-time coach for series 15, although discussions about his involvement continue; the new series is being filmed in Manchester with Cheryl and Aitch joining the judging panel.
