Sony Pictures and Olive Bridge Entertainment have cast Amélie Hoeferle and Graham Campbell in the film adaptation of Lynn Painter’s bestselling young adult novel Fake Skating. Directed by Josh Boone, the summer release will follow childhood sweethearts who reunite in their hockey-loving hometown and pretend to be romantically involved, only for their staged relationship to rekindle genuine feelings.

The screenplay was initially written by Morgan Lehmann and Victoria Bata, with Boone and Knate Lee revising it. Published in September 2025, Fake Skating has sold nearly 500,000 copies, appeared 48 times on the New York Times YA Hardcover Bestseller list and topped it for 15 weeks; it has also been translated into 16 languages. Hoeferle is known for Sterling Point and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, while Campbell has appeared in Appropriate, The Shards and Late Fame.
