F-Droid has released version 2.0, its first major update in about a decade, rebuilding the Android app store with a faster, cleaner interface. Built with Kotlin Compose, the new client adds clearer navigation, extensive categories, description-based search, automatic updates and simultaneous installations. It also uses Google’s pre-approval API to simplify sideloading: users confirm installation twice instead of downloading an APK and navigating a warning, while the update is rolling out gradually over two weeks.
