Ricursive Intelligence aims to cut AI chip design from years to weeks
Ricursive Intelligence is developing AI that can design computer chips, learn from each design and improve future versions. Its co-founders, Anna Goldie and Azalia Mirhoseini, will discuss the approach at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026, arguing it could shorten chip-development cycles and help overcome a major bottleneck in advancing AI.
Chip design currently takes around two to three years, whereas Ricursive aims to reduce this to weeks. Before founding the company, Goldie and Mirhoseini co-led Google’s AlphaChip, which produced layouts for several generations of Tensor Processing Units in hours; Ricursive launched in late 2025 and raised $335 million within four months at a $4 billion valuation, with Nvidia among its investors.
