A woman who previously accused Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter of rape has filed a sworn declaration stating that her allegations against him were entirely false. She originally sued Sean "Diddy" Combs in late 2024, alleging an assault at a 2000 VMAs after-party, and later refiled the case naming Carter as a co-defendant. Both men denied the allegations, and she voluntarily dismissed the lawsuit in February 2025, after which Carter filed a defamation suit against her. This retraction is significant as it undermines claims made in a high-profile case and raises questions about the credibility of the original allegations.

In her 11-page declaration, Jane Doe stated unequivocally that she has never met or spoken to Carter and that he never engaged in any misconduct towards her. She acknowledged that her false accusations have caused Carter significant harm and, crucially, alleged that her lead attorney, Tony Buzbee, pressured her to make fabricated claims against Jay-Z in order to strengthen her case against Diddy Combs. Carter has since dropped Jane Doe from his defamation lawsuit but continues his suit against Buzbee and his law firm. Jane Doe maintains she was not paid to make this new declaration.
