Robert Pattinson has addressed speculation about his Batman joining James Gunn's newly formed DC Universe, firmly ruling out the possibility. In an interview promoting his film Primetime, the actor explained that his specific interpretation of Bruce Wayne is fundamentally tied to the distinct tone and style established in his 2022 film The Batman, making it incompatible with existing in another cinematic universe.

The Batman Part 2 is scheduled for release on 18 February 2028, nearly six years after the original film's premiere, with various delays attributed to production complications. The sequel reunites Pattinson with returning cast members Jeffrey Wright (Commissioner Gordon), Andy Serkis (Alfred) and Colin Farrell (The Penguin), whilst adding new cast including Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Charles Dance, Brian Tyree Henry and Sebastian Koch, though the specific roles for some remain unconfirmed.
