Liverpool teenager Rio Ngumoha has been left out of England’s matchday squad for Saturday’s Nations League opener against Spain at Wembley. The 18-year-old received his first senior call-up earlier this month, but will not feature against the reigning world and European champions.

Ngumoha previously impressed on his England debut in a friendly against New Zealand, becoming the team’s fifth-youngest player. His club career has also advanced quickly: he became Liverpool’s youngest-ever first-team starter at 16 and scored a late Premier League winner against Newcastle, although he has made only three league appearances this season, with one start.
