Napalm Death bassist Shane Embury says the band’s seventeenth studio album probably will not arrive until late 2027, largely because touring commitments are slowing the process. The group has begun developing the material with longtime producer Russ Russell, but the songs remain at an early, flexible stage.

Embury said he has prepared guitar and bass “bare bones” for drummer Danny Herrera to develop, while vocalist Mark “Barney” Greenway is expected to begin writing lyrics during a tour in November. The band may still add more songs, including potentially a 12- or 13-minute track, and is working without a strict deadline; Napalm Death’s latest release was the eight-song mini-album “Resentment Is Always Seismic – A Final Throw Of Throes”, issued in February 2022.
