A forthcoming Half-Life 2 total-conversion mod called The Temple combines underwater exploration, aerial travel and cosmic horror. Inspired by Iron Lung’s claustrophobic submarine premise, it expands the concept into a broader adventure across an abandoned aquatic planet.

Players will use three distinct vehicles—a submarine, an airship and a space shuttle—each with its own mechanics. The roughly two-hour campaign builds on two revamped Maplabs competition maps and adds a new concluding chapter, with the story centred on uncovering what happened while avoiding Lovecraftian threats; it is scheduled for release in 2026.
