A 75-year-old man from Hampshire has been banned from driving until 2041, when he will turn 90, after being caught drink driving for at least the third time. The lengthy disqualification reflects magistrates' concerns about Michael Harper's "flagrant disregard for court orders" and his repeated offences despite previous penalties and bans.

Harper was caught driving his Nissan Juke whilst over the alcohol limit and without insurance in April 2026, whilst already subject to a driving ban. He received a suspended four-month prison sentence and must undertake nine months of alcohol treatment and rehabilitation. This represents his third known conviction for drink driving, following a 17-month ban in 2017 and a 10-year ban imposed last year for driving with nearly twice the legal alcohol limit.
