The National Fish and Chip Awards has announced its 2026 longlist of 40 leading fish and chip establishments competing for the prestigious Takeaway of the Year title. The awards, now in their 39th year, aim to celebrate excellence and raise standards across the UK's fish and chip industry, with competitors evaluated on product quality, hygiene, sustainability, customer service and industry knowledge.

From the 40 longlisted establishments, 20 will progress to the semi-finals before 10 finalists are selected, with the winner announced on 24 February. Notable nominees include Fish! Kitchen in Borough Market and Grosvenor Fish Bar in Norwich, whilst last year's winner, The Scrap Box in York, has credited the award with significantly boosting business and opening doors to media opportunities, travel experiences and industry connections.
