Meta is starting an enterprise business to justify its massive AI spending
Meta is launching a new enterprise business to sell its AI products and services to companies and developers. Mark Zuckerberg described it as a future major pillar of the business, signalling a push to earn revenue beyond advertising and to support the company’s substantial AI investment.
The new unit, Meta Enterprise Platform, will be led by Chirantan “CJ” Desai, formerly head of MongoDB. Its initial offerings include AI agents, APIs and a coding platform; Meta has also been reported to be considering leasing data centre capacity, though it has announced no such plans. Zuckerberg expects Meta to spend $600 billion on AI over the next two years, while consumer subscriptions have yet to show whether users will pay at scale.
