Gianni Infantino, FIFA president, has signalled his willingness to accede to demands from UEFA and Concacaf for increased financial payouts to member associations, drawing on FIFA's $6bn cash reserves. This decision represents a significant shift following pressure from European and North American confederations over funding distribution, and comes after his controversial Fifa Forward Enterprise (FFE) scheme was withdrawn amid criticism.

UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin and Concacaf's Victor Montagliani had called for at least $10m per member association (covering all 211 FIFA members) during the 2027-2030 commercial cycle, a demand later backed by the Asian Football Confederation. Whilst Infantino has not committed to the specific $10m figure, he has indicated support for distributing "the greatest level of additional funding that can responsibly be delivered", with a final decision set for the FIFA council meeting on 15 October 2026. The abandoned FFE scheme would have provided $20m to member associations, with a further $20m available for those signing up before a 53-day deadline.
