Aston Villa have sacked women’s manager Natalia Arroyo after a poor start left the team winless and second-bottom in the Women’s Super League. The decision came on Monday, following a 4-0 defeat by Tottenham, and reflects a run of weak performances as the club seek to improve their league position.

Villa have two points from their first four matches: they lost to Tottenham and Manchester City and drew with Chelsea and Brighton. Appointed in January 2025, Arroyo led Villa to sixth place after taking over mid-season, but they finished ninth in her first full campaign with 20 points from 22 games. Women’s technical adviser Brian Sørensen will take temporary charge, including for Wednesday’s Subway Players Cup match against Newcastle.
