Over 100 Israeli settlers launched coordinated attacks on the Palestinian village of Jalud in the occupied West Bank on Monday night, preventing a family escorted by Israeli military from reclaiming their homes. The al-Tubasi family, accompanied by Israeli forces following a High Court ruling that they must be allowed to return, were forced to flee when settlers set fire to their two houses, slashed military vehicle tyres, and threw stones at the group. The incident underscores what human rights organisations describe as Israeli authorities' failure to prevent settler violence, with the family's 60-year-old patriarch reporting that soldiers protected them from attackers but took no action against the settlers themselves.

The al-Tubasi family had been driven from their properties in summer after weeks of harassment by extremist settlers who had established an illegal outpost near the village. When the family attempted to inspect their homes under military escort, they discovered extensive damage—smashed doors, ripped-out electrical fittings, broken windows and destroyed sanitary fixtures. Settlers, coordinated through WhatsApp groups, arrived in groups exceeding 150 people to block the family's return. The Israeli military reported 3 officers were lightly injured during the confrontation, and the family ultimately left without completing their reclamation after the properties were set ablaze.
