Samsung’s Galaxy SmartTag 3 is a new location tracker that can also monitor a pet’s movement, activity time and sleep through the SmartThings app. The pet features make it more than a way to locate a collar, though it does not measure health signals such as heart rate or oxygen levels.

The tag is smaller and lighter than its predecessor, with battery life of up to 550 days in normal mode or 790 days in Power Saving mode. Samsung says Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding provides distance and direction guidance from up to 60 metres away, with ultra-wideband support for more precise locating nearby. It also adds location-entry and exit alerts and cross-platform use through SmartThings; prices start at $30, with a four-pack costing $100, and black and white versions are due in early November.
