A 73-year-old man has pleaded guilty to outraging public decency after more than a decade of sexual harassment against his elderly widow neighbour in Worcestershire. Robert May subjected Margaret Day to a disturbing campaign involving obscene text messages, touching her intimate clothing on the washing line, and repeatedly exposing himself naked whilst masturbating in his window. The harassment, which began when Margaret's late husband Brian was alive and continued after his death in 2014, only came to an end when evidence was captured on a Ring doorbell camera installed by Margaret's daughter Sue Mason-Day.

The campaign of harassment lasted approximately eleven years and escalated significantly over time. It began with explicit text messages when May asked to look after the couple's birds, progressing to touching her underwear on the line and eventually exposing himself naked at his window, sometimes standing so close to Margaret's kitchen that she could see him clearly. Margaret's husband confronted May and threatened to contact the police, ending their friendship, but the harassment persisted even after Brian's death. Sue and her husband hid in Margaret's car to film evidence of May performing sex acts in his window in July 2025, which led to his arrest and guilty plea. May is due to be sentenced at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court this month.
