John Galliano Reworks Zara’s Archive Through a Couture Lens for His First Collection

The Hollywood Reporter · 2 hours ago

John Galliano’s first Re{form} collection for Zara launches on 1 October, beginning a two-year partnership. Instead of creating garments from scratch, Galliano reworks pieces from Zara’s previous seasons, bringing his couture techniques and historical references to a much wider retail audience.

The collection reshapes familiar items: a slip dress becomes a neck jabot, an oversized shirt turns into a jacket, and a coat’s pockets, lapels and hem are altered. It draws on Galliano’s interest in bias cutting, tailoring and historical dress, including styles associated with post-revolutionary French dandies. Prices start at $29.90, and the collection will be sold on Zara’s website and in selected stores; the launch follows the cancellation of a planned 2027 Costume Institute exhibition devoted to Galliano.
