‘Doraemon the Movie’ Guardians on Taking Nobita’s Undersea Adventure to Indian Cinemas: ‘It Transcends Generations’ (EXCLUSIVE)

TV Asahi is bringing *Doraemon the Movie: New Nobita and the Castle of the Undersea Devil* to Indian cinemas, aiming to build on the franchise’s long television following and reach family audiences. The release matters to the Japanese companies behind the series as part of a broader effort to expand Doraemon’s presence in one of TV Asahi’s important markets.

The film opens across India on 2 October in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, with TV Asahi and PVR Inox Pictures leading the release. It reworks a story first shown in Japanese cinemas in 1983; producer Shin-Ei Animation says the remake preserves the original’s narrative and emotional feel while updating its visuals for today’s audiences. TV Asahi says Doraemon has been on Indian television for 21 years and sees potential for further cinema releases.
