Ben Affleck Used AI “For Lots of Things” in His New Netflix Movie ‘Animals’
Ben Affleck said he used AI “for lots of things” while making his upcoming Netflix thriller *Animals*, but declined to identify them, saying that would undermine the film’s illusion of reality. He described it as an ethical use of AI in a human-centred film and argued that the technology is a filmmaking tool, while rejecting the idea that prompts will let people make films audiences want to see.
Affleck also said filmmakers become less fearful of AI once they gain a sense of control over the tools. *Animals*, starring Gillian Anderson, Steven Yeun and Kerry Washington, premieres on Netflix on 9 October. Affleck, whose AI company InterPositive was sold to Netflix for nearly $600 million, also disputed claims that Netflix made him and Matt Damon repeatedly explain *The Rip*’s plot, saying the account attributed to Damon was misunderstood.
