Sycamore nears £7bn sale of Boots to Canadian Weston family
Sycamore Partners is reportedly in advanced talks to sell Boots to the Canadian branch of the billionaire Weston family for $9bn (£7bn), with a deal potentially due as soon as next week. The sale would return the family to the UK high street after it sold Selfridges for £4bn in 2022.
Sycamore bought Walgreens Boots Alliance for $23.7bn in 2025 and has since split it into five businesses, with Boots expected to be sold separately. A previous attempt to sell Boots to Australia’s Sigma Healthcare, at a reported $10bn valuation, fell through. Founded in Nottingham in 1849, Boots has 1,800 UK stores and about 51,000 employees; its revenue rose 3.2% to £7.5bn in the year to August 2025, while pre-tax profit increased 25% to £337m.
