Jerry Golod, the television producer and former CBS and NBC executive, has died aged 87 after a brief battle with cancer at his home in Rancho Mirage, California. He helped bring the horror anthology “Tales From the Darkside” to television, where it ran for four seasons and built a strong cult following.
Golod became CBS vice president of children’s programmes in 1975 and moved to NBC Entertainment in 1979, overseeing a range of programming. He later launched JayGee Productions and helped create the CBS adventure series “Adderly”, which ran for two seasons. His other work included producing “Brass” and revivals of “Return to Green Acres” and “Land of the Lost”; a planned “Tales From the Darkside” revival stalled after a 2015 pilot. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandsons.
