Shat: The man who was shot in the head then made a 69-song album about sex

Far Out ·

Jeff Wood, a guitarist and bassist previously known for metal and punk bands, survived a gunshot wound to the head whilst at a party in Hollywood. The incident prompted a radical transformation in his artistic direction, leading him to establish the experimental band Shat as an outlet for his creative expression.

With a bullet still embedded in his brain, Wood formed Shat and adopted a deliberately provocative stage presence, working with a backing band that wore unconventional costumes. The band's 2006 album Cuntree featured 69 tracks of sexually explicit power metal, which Wood claimed derived from his personal experiences, stating that approximately 98 per cent of Shat's complete catalogue came from genuine life events.
