Variety ·

Talpa Studios, founded by John de Mol, is taking new entertainment formats to the Mipcom television market, led by music show “Sing With Me” and quiz competition “The Golden Elevators”. Their launch plans and international orders show how the company is combining original ideas and partnerships to expand its formats across markets.

“Sing With Me”, made with IDTV, gives aspiring singers the chance to perform with established artists; it launches on Dutch channel SBS6 on 7 November. ITV in the UK and SBS6 have ordered “The Golden Elevators”, in which contestants choose between elevators representing answers to quiz questions, with wrong choices eliminating them and a jackpot awaiting those who reach the top. Talpa says it has 26 formats active in 34 countries, and partnership-developed shows account for more than 40% of its catalogue; “The Floor” has reached over 30 territories.
