Apple TV’s 16-Episode Historical Drama Is Too Good To Be Left Unfinished

Collider · 4 days ago

Pachinko, an Apple TV historical drama adapted from Min Jin Lee's 2017 novel, aired for two seasons before being left unfinished by the streamer. Creator Soo Hugh had always envisioned the story spanning three to four seasons, but Apple declined to produce a third instalment, leaving the narrative incomplete and disappointing fans who invested in the characters and plot threads.

The second season concludes with numerous loose ends, including uncertain outcomes for relationships and high-stakes business conflicts. Characters such as Sunja face unclear futures, whilst Solomon grapples with consequences of his dealings and the suicide of a rival. Advocates for the show are urging Apple to greenlight at least one more season to provide proper closure to what was otherwise considered a high-quality adaptation.

  • Apple TV cancelled Pachinko after 2 seasons (2022–2024) despite the creator originally planning 3–4 seasons
  • Season 2 ended with multiple unresolved storylines; fans are calling for at least one additional season to conclude the narrative
