The Guardian has reviewed Shark's first handheld fan, the ChillPill 3-in-1, a debut mini-fan that stands out for offering three separate cooling methods in a single compact device. It matters because established electronics brands have only recently entered the handheld fan market, and the ChillPill's flexibility sets a new benchmark — though its £129.99 price, more than the rival Dyson HushJet Mini Cool and 21 times the cheapest recommended fan, makes it a hard sell for many buyers.

The device combines a standard air fan, a water-misting head and a cooling plate that Shark claims can lower skin temperature by up to 9C on direct contact. It has an unorthodox twin-cylinder design that twists to direct airflow, comes in seven colours, and offers 10 power settings with measured air speeds of 1.6 to 4.6 metres per second. Battery life ranged from under three hours to more than 19 hours depending on mode. The reviewer found it less powerful than the Dyson, which reached 7.5m/s, but praised its versatility, with the misting head and cooling plate proving especially refreshing in hot weather.
