Golden Everything pay tribute to Luke Bell with new song White Buick
The Nashville husband-and-wife duo Golden Everything — songwriters Zach Schmidt and Jackie Berkley — have released a new single, "White Buick", as a tribute to their late friend, the country musician Luke Bell, who died in 2022. The tender track charts Bell's joy, talent and free spirit, and forms part of the duo's continuing efforts, alongside his family, to preserve his memory and legacy. All proceeds from the song will benefit the Luke Bell Memorial Affordable Counseling Program, which channels royalties from Bell's work into making mental health treatment more accessible in his home state of Wyoming.
The song was released on Tuesday and features on Golden Everything's forthcoming EP, Down Time, due out on 17 July. Schmidt was moved to write "White Buick" after a tribute to Bell held during last year's AmericanaFest, where he and Bell's family worked to capture the musician's infectious energy. In a lengthy Instagram post, Schmidt described Bell as his advocate, crediting him with introducing him to most of the people in his life, including his wife. A live performance video of the song will also direct funds toward the counselling programme, adding to earlier legacy projects such as the unreleased-tracks collection The King Is Back.
