Anarchists United names inaugural writers discovery fellows under Lilly Wachowski
Lilly Wachowski's Anarchists United Foundation has named the five recipients of its 2026 Writers Discovery Fellowship: Emma Bruno, Erin Deason, Sarah Granger, Coquie Hughes and Chelsea Javier. The foundation, which the Matrix co-director set up to tackle inequity across film and television, uses the six-month scheme to champion underrepresented voices, making the announcement a notable moment for emerging TV writers seeking a route into the industry.
The programme launched on 4 May and is sponsored this year by Amy Poehler's Paper Kite Productions, Drew Goddard's Goddard Textiles and Eric Heisserer's Chronology, now operating fully under the foundation after five years partnered with Circle M+P. Each fellow receives a $10,000 stipend plus mentorship, mock general meetings, pitch sessions and help creating submission-ready pilots, guided by mentors including MACRO's Fior Fabian and Atomic Monster's Lizz Gezana. Wachowski, who co-founded the organisation with Lawrence Mattis and Sarah Marie Flores, said the scheme is expanding beyond traditional television development to reflect the creator economy, digital storytelling and emerging media, noting that "making television in 2026 looks very different than it did when we first launched this program."
