Investigators book series film rights acquired by Sycamore Studios
Independent animation studio Sycamore Studios has acquired the exclusive animated film rights to InvestiGators, the New York Times bestselling children's book franchise created by John Patrick Green. The series, which debuted in 2020 and features a pair of crime-fighting alligators, has sold five million copies in print, and the deal marks the studio's move to bring the property to cinemas and beyond.
Sycamore executives framed the acquisition as the basis for a long-term global franchise, pointing to potential spin-offs across television series, gaming, consumer products and live experiences alongside the theatrical film. The studio's wider family-entertainment slate includes the in-production Doctor Dolittle: King of the Wild, as well as adaptations of the Madeline books and Ben Hatke's Zita the Spacegirl trilogy. Green, who welcomed the partnership, is represented by IAG, Linnan Literary Management and the firm Surpin, Mayersohn & Coghill.
