Cyberpunk Edgerunners’ Lucy finds herself in yet another crossover, this time in an upcoming Apex Legends event
Respawn Entertainment's battle royale Apex Legends is launching a Cyberpunk crossover event, adding character skins based on both CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 and the Netflix anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. It is the latest in a string of crossovers for the franchise and, in the writer's view, edges Apex closer to the wide-ranging brand tie-ins associated with Fortnite.
The event overhauls the E-District map with neon towers, holograms and in-universe company logos, and introduces pickups such as the Sandevistan (a dashing, shield-recharging boost) and Blackwall Breach (a repositioning EMP attack). Overusing these triggers "Cyberpsychosis", boosting speed and melee but disabling weapons, abilities and shields, which can be cured with immunoblocker items. A range of skins recasts existing Legends as Cyberpunk characters — for instance, Axle becomes Lucy, Sparrow becomes David Martinez and Rampart becomes Rebecca. The event runs from 14th July to 4th August.
