Ridley Scott has officially joined forces with Takashi Yamazaki, the director of the acclaimed *Godzilla Minus One*, on a new science-fiction film titled *Nue*. Through his production company, Scott Free, Scott will produce the project, with Yamazaki directing. The pairing is notable because it unites a veteran of the sci-fi genre with the filmmaker behind one of the most praised recent entries in it, signalling a potentially high-profile collaboration.

Plot details for *Nue* are being kept secret, and Amie Horiuchu and Keiichiro Moriya are also attached to produce. The announcement comes as Scott himself prepares to return to sci-fi this August with *The Dog Stars*, starring Josh Brolin and Jacob Elordi, following a run of historical epics (*Napoleon* and *Gladiator II*) that received mixed receptions. Yamazaki's *Godzilla Minus One*, currently streaming on Netflix, was made for around $15 million and won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
