An Uzbek commercial lorry driver, Bekhzod Asrarov, 42, has been accused of causing a fatal crash on Interstate 71 in Madison County, Ohio, that killed 21-year-old university footballer Tobias "Toby" Forsythe. According to sources cited by Fox News, Asrarov drove into the back of Forsythe's vehicle and could not communicate with responding state troopers without using Google Translate. The case has become a focal point in a wider political debate over immigration and the issuing of commercial driving licences to those with limited English.

Asrarov, who holds an Ohio commercial driving licence, reportedly entered the United States in 2024 during the Biden administration through the diversity visa lottery programme, and is said to have attempted to remove and conceal his lorry's dash camera when troopers arrived. Forsythe, an economics student, was a goalkeeper for the University of Massachusetts Lowell River Hawks. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy criticised the situation on X, and the Trump administration has pointed to the crash amid a broader crackdown that it says has revoked more than 28,000 commercial licences held by illegal immigrants.
